Sign petition for the Community Right to Buy Kingsmeadows

The campaign

SBC refused Granton’s 2022 application to build in this woodland on the Tweed SAC, citing tree loss and ecology after 509 community objections. Granton's permission in principle expired on 4 March 2024.

SBC have refused two out of three of Granton's 2024 renewal requests, cumulatively gathering 250 further objections. SBC refused 24/00030/FUL (seeking a single-word grammatical change) on 9 Dec 2024 and refused 24/00031/FUL (seeking reduced protection for the wider woodland) on 23 Feb 2026.

Now that SBC's Planning Committee and Local Review Body have refused permission, we call on planners to immediately refuse Granton's third and final renewal request 24/00247/FUL (seeking the combined changes from refused requests 24/00030/FUL and 24/00031/FUL in a single application).

Our campaign to protect the woodland has made significant strides, and now we are working towards bringing it into community ownership. This step is crucial to securing its future, ensuring that this green sanctuary remains protected for generations to come.
